The wayward adventures of our intrepid hero

I'm home, I'm in one piece and the reports of me being torn limb from limb by wild rabid carnivorous dragon flies, apparently never got reported.... have to check on the rumor mill machines....

Anyway the trip was more or less uneventful, and by more or less uneventful I mean completely not uneventful ;-). Anyway the drive up was uneventful, save one annoyance. Apparently the DeKalb Oasis was going to be closed starting the 14th, I really like to stop there as it's only about an hour outside of downtown Chicago, good place to gas up and grab a bite and keep going. But they are doing something to the whole mess, it better be good!

So after I got up to Chicago, decided to go scope out my route to the interview and since I knew the interview was only like 6 blocks from the Baha'i Temple, I went straight there. The temple really is wonderful, had the opportunity to pray for like and hour, it was nice, though there were a lot of tourists which was a bit distracting but still, once it was all said and done I felt.... better.

So I found a Panera bread w/ free wifi access, that saved my butt, had dinner went back to the hotel, watched Pitched Black and crashed

Woke up the next morning, got ready and headed out and low and behold the world has found a NEW and CREATIVE way to annoy me. Someone yelled at me at a stop light, about halfway to the interview, I had a flat tire.

Joy

So yeah, did the first day of the interview, meet a lot of people and got a good look around the building. After it was done went out, changed the tire, and found that the spare was a donut and not the full spare we THOUGHT it was

Further Joy

So yeah, I'm stuck 250+ miles from home, the truck isn't 100% and I'm starting to debate how much more the world is going to toss at me, getting kind of sick and tired of it at this point. But yeah, with the truck at least moveable I went to dinner with Mojan, her husband and four other Baha'is from the area. It was a good evening, I enjoyed it throughly. So I crashed for the night, as the day ahead was going to be long

Woke up a bit earlier, and went in search of Sears to have them deal with the tire while I got on with my day. Found it, they found the tire was fried, Joy, and I just had them drop a new tire on the thing. Went, dealt with the rest of the days interview, went back snagged the tire and grabbed a dunkachino (WHEN will Dunkin Donuts come to Iowa, really, get me addicted to Dunkachinos and than not let me buy the stuff in bulk from them, and not be in Iowa, grrrr) and headed home.

Trip home was completely uneventful, the tire I put on didn't come tearing off so I assume I did it right. It was a good trip, glad I did it. Heading to another job interview on Friday, so we'll see what happens

anyway I'm going to crash, I'm tired and need sleep
