Me and the quest for curry!

When I interviewed at the BNC earlier this summer they took me to a fantastic Thai place and I had the most succulant food I have ever had: curry. It was good, ohhhhhhh so good and tasty. Regardless I found a wonderful Thai place back in I.C. that meet my needs, and now that I'm here in Des Moines I suddenly had a hankering and went in search of curry. Now my intuition told me to find a slightly upscale strip mall near a major road, and there I would find what I sought. My intuition was right and I stumbled across one about 3 miles from my house (I made a total of 4 turns to get to it without looking it up or asking anyone, I felt impressed with myself anyway) walked in ordered my yellow curry to go and went back to my placeto munch happily that I not only explored but came away victorious...... almost

What I got might have been curry, maybe, in some lifetime. It wasn't very good, seemed to be done wrong and the whole nine yards (it wasn't even a yellow curry I think it was a red one but I can't confirm that). I was saddened and dismayed, particularly considering it was a nice place and seemed to have won several local restraunt awards. So I was put on a quest: the quest for a yellow curry!

I started my search, as with all good searches, with google. Google knows everything, plain and simple ;-) just gotta ask it the right questions. So I dug around a bit, found a couple of recipes, compared, contrasted and formulated my recipe. Now with what I thought was the hard part done, went in search of my ingrediants the next day. I found some, but the curry paste eluded me, no major grocery store in the area carries it. Ok fine, you all loose! So I dug up some asian markets today, and hit one near my work on the way home. It was a dive, plain and simple. It also stank incideously, I'm still shaking from the smell and it still feels like it's lodged in my nose slightly. Found my paste and fled, found another one closer to my house that looks to be much much nicer and I'm betting doesn't smell, I will frequent that one from now on ;-) BUT I have all my ingrediants for curry. I have to make it here in the next few days and see how badly I can futz it up ;-)

Beyond the curry life hasn't been too horrible, except for work. Work is getting nuts, lots to do, little time to do it in and in testing what I thought was done, the customer is informing us of major changes that have to be done because "ohhhh yeah it needs to do that too, sorry forgot to mention that and it needs to still ship with that in there, THANKS!". Honestly if it was one or two things I wouldn't complain, thats almost to be expected, but this is starting to turn into something where we would have re-written the spec completely as what I have now doesn't even meet the original spec.

Probably going to get stuck doing a lot of late nights soon, very soon, to try and get everything done I'm starting to feel very behind on my current project seeing as it hasn't even left stage 1 of it's probably 3 stage development and it has to go live November 1. I don't know how I'm going to do it, but I have to perform some sort of a miracle. Wish me luck.
